Fashion Show, Camps, and Fall Class Update
First off, we want to say that we miss all of our students so much. We know that virtual classes have been different and more difficult. We are so proud of all of our students for persevering and remembering the valuable life lessons that we talk about in class. Their outfits look amazing and their hard work throughout the year shines through. One of our favorite memories each year is our annual fashion show where each student gets to show off all of the hard work that they put into their outfits. With heavy hearts, we had to move to online classes and postpone this year’s fashion show. Even though it’s hard, this was the right decision as society comes together and takes preventative actions to combat COVID-19. Currently, we are working on creating a virtual fashion show that will allow our students the chance to wear their outfits and walk the runway from the comfort of their homes. We will be compiling videos of students who would like to participate in this virtual fashion show. Further details will be announced at a later date. We would also like to explain why summer camps have been cancelled. Typically, after the annual fashion show, we would begin the prep work for summer camps. However, due to COVID-19 safety measures and fabric stores selling fabric exclusively to create masks, we had to make the hard decision to cancel summer camps. During this time, we are exploring different ideas to make Fall classes a safe and healthy environment. Fall classes will take place at Lori Green’s home for the beginning of the year to create the healthiest environment possible. We are also planning on implementing further safety measures such as isolating supplies instead of sharing them. We are also exploring the idea of skill prep kits. These skill prep kits could be an option for students who don’t feel comfortable returning to the studio yet. Students who choose to do this would work on a curriculum kit to improve their sewing skills at home in conjunction with Zoom meetings for questions and tips. During this time, we are working to create a new curriculum and prep our new studio. We hope that everyone stays safe and we miss you all!
